At Green Light Window Films, we’ve been in business for over a decade. In that ten year time period, we’ve heard all sorts of questions and concerns from new clients who are just looking into window tint for their first time.
A lot of the concerns we hear from customers in San Antonio come from window film myths that they’ve (mistakenly) come to believe as reality. As experts in the industry, we feel that it is our duty to shed some light on these misconceptions. In this article, we’ll discuss some common window film myths and the actual truth behind false information.
Common San Antonio Window Film Myths
Window tint has been around for a long time. With that being said, there’s a reason for why there’s so many misconceptions. This is mainly due to the ineffectiveness or unattractive look of outdated styles of film that are no longer used. Today’s window films are much better and more powerful. That’s why the following myths are no longer true.
1. Window film will darken your windows.
Yes, old window films used to work this way but today’s films no longer do. The only kind of films that do function in this manner are cheap ones, and they’re not worth the investment. However, most modern window films allow for a generous amount of visible light transmission and are still just as capable of blocking heat and uv rays.
2. Installing window film doesn’t make any difference.
Again, this is not true. Many people can tell the difference in the temperature of their building right after their film is installed. Even further, window film has a proven ability to reduce energy consumption by up to 30%
3. Window film looks unattractive.
This comes down to personal preference. Yes, some films have a darker or tinted look, but they’re designed that way on purpose for stylistic reasons and many people like them. However, there are tons of different types of window tint out there, including frosted, patterned, and even textured films. There’s an option for everyone, no matter their taste or preference.
From this information, it’s clear to see that many of the misconceptions about window tint aren’t true. However, if you’re still feeling skeptical, you may want to schedule a consultation so you can discuss your concerns with a professional contractor. At Green Light, we offer the first consultation for free.
